Raleigh couple dies in Franklinton wreck
FRANKLINTON — A single vehicle wreck took the lives of two Raleigh residents in Franklinton Oct. 3.
According to a preliminary N.C. Highway Patrol incident report, Joseph Davis, 44, and Alexandria Davis, 35, 8008 Strawberry Meadows St., Raleigh, were driving north on U.S. 1 at 1:41 p.m. when the driver Alexandria lost control of the 2006 Kia minivan and ran off the road, flipping the vehicle and colliding with a utility pole.
Highway Patrol Trooper B. Pulliam responded to the scene and estimates their speed at the time was around 80 miles per hour in a posted 55-mph-zone.
The wreck happened at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Cheatham Street.
Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing a seat belt. Both were ejected from the vehicle. The couple was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital by emergency officials.
