ROLESVILLE — Victoria Despres of Rolesville High School finished in the top five during a Greater Neuse River Conference Meet Oct. 2 that took place on the Ram’s home course.
Despres was the top runner for the Rolesville girls and placed fifth overall in 22:51.
The Rams finished in third place, three points ahead of Garner. Clayton won the race and Knightdale was second.
Other girls from Rolesville High racing included Madison Taylor, 27:54; Cailey McGinn, 30:38; Alyssa Ryan, 32:07; Ashley Watkins, 32:09, Morgan Brown, 32:40 and Lindsay Harrington, 32:50.
“Ashley ran a personal best against some tough competition,” said Ram coach Michael Grether.
Stephen Strong had the fastest time for the Rolesville boys. He crossed the finish line in ninth place in 19:21.
Matthew Mims recorded a personal best on the course in 21:39 and Trevor Brenton and K J Fullwood, completed the race in 23:00.
The Ram’s Rusty Black and Chris Miller, had times of 24:15 and 27:23, respectively.
Knightdale finished first for the boys followed by Garner, Clayton and Rolesville.
“Our athletes competed well on a very tough course,” Grether said. “I am grateful for all the help we received in making the race a smooth and successful event.”
“I am proud of the efforts we have made and look forward to gearing up for the Greater Neuse River Conference Championships,” Grether said.
