FRANKLINTON — The Red Rams volleyball team is ready to get back in the gym and handle some unfinished business after falling in the second round of the state playoffs last year.
Returning to the lineup will be juniors Kaitlyn Branam, Ann Moss and senior Brooke Davis, who will lead the Red Rams with their knowledge and skill of the game.
With eight of the nine returning varsity players the team’s chemistry has had some time to blossom.
“I am extremely excited for the season to begin and it is great to get back in the gym with the girls,” said head coach Caitlin Withers.
This will be Withers’ second season as head coach with assistant Lisa Davis.
Highlights from last season included beating county and conference rivals Bunn High in each of three matches and a second round appearance in the state playoffs, falling to conference foe South Granville High.
“They are an incredible group of dedicated and hard working individuals that inspire me with their efforts and positive attitudes,” Withers said about her team.
The Red Rams volleyball squad hopes to continue its success. They begin the season with two non-conference matches that will test their skills before their first conference face off against Durham School of the Arts Aug. 27.
