RALEIGH — Car owners who were forced to abandon their vehicles during the snow storm and discover their vehicles have been towed are encouraged to call the North Carolina Highway Patrol (NCHP) at 919-733-3861 or the local police department for city/town-maintained roads. NCHP is maintaining a log for all vehicles that have been towed from state-maintained roads and where they are located.
Wake County has enacted a policy not to tow abandoned vehicles due to the winter weather unless it is a safety hazard. Road clearing crews will try to plow around abandoned vehicles then, as needed, law enforcement will have the vehicles pulled to cleared areas nearby, so that the snow removal process may proceed safely.
Car owners are encouraged to contact a towing company if they wish to have their vehicle towed.
