He graduated from Oil City high school and served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves. As a teen, Shefchunas began working as a packer for PennTraffic-Riverside market. During his 47-year career there, he worked his way up to produce clerk, produce manager, regional supervisor and vice president of perishable operations.
He and his family moved to Youngsville after retirement and became a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Lithuanian Club of DuBois.
Shefchunas is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Steven Shefchunas, Julie Buskirk and her husband, Steve, Linda Rush and Terri Anastasi; a brother, Tom and his wife, Sandy; a sister-in-law, Gayle Morgado and her husband, Mike; four grandchildren, a great-granddaughter; and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, July 24 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Father Tom Duggan officiating. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
