Robert “Bob” Gentry Keith Jr., 33, of Holly Ridge, formerly of Wake Forest, died Friday, July 4, 2014, at his residence. He was born in Guilford County, the son of Robert G. “Joe” Keith Sr. and the late Sharon Hogan Keith.
Bob was a graduate of Wake Forest-Rolesville High School and attended Catawaba College. After college he joined the U.S. Marine Corp., where he obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant, and was an ordnance specialist with Harrier Jets and then light helicopters. He served two tours of duty in Iraq, and a tour with the 22nd MEU on the Mediterranean Sea, before becoming disabled and retiring.
Bob is survived by his father, Robert G. “Joe” Keith of Wake Forest; a sister, Kim Keith
Griffith and husband, J.C., of Wake Forest; a niece, Peyton Bucher; nephew, Zachary Langenberg; uncle and aunt, LeBaron and Beverly Keith, of Youngsville; aunt, Beverly Hogan, of Farmville; and cousin, Robert “Jack” Williams, of Angier. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Richard Keith and Hazel Woodlief Keith.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Faile will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wake Forest Town Cemetery with full military and Patriot Guard Honors.
Friends may visit with the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at the funeral home.
