With all the frantic talk about the next generation games coming out, we tend to forget about some heavy hitters from recent years.
Not too long ago I decided to play some older games for my Playstation 3 and Wii console. I was throughly impressed.
Now I want to emphasize to my readers that I am picking great games that may have been missed. No point in picking games that are still popular after a couple of years being out.
If you have the Nintendo Wii, I highly recommend picking up Super Paper Mario. Everyone knows and loves Mario, but have you seen him in a game where you can customize his abilities?
Players can equip different special moves (like using a hammer) to defeat his various 2D enemies in a 3D world.
Also, many of your favorite characters from the Mario universe make cameos and they bring along some hilarious conversations to keep things interesting.
To show some PS3 love, I have to point towards the Infamous games. Currently there are two successful games with a third, Infamous: Second Son, coming out next year.
Most people know about Infamous, but I am an example of knowing about it but never playing it.
The moment I gave it a chance this year, it moved up into my top 20 games for the PS3 easily.
With nicely detailed graphics, a somewhat sandbox play style with optional side quests and an addictive soundtrack, it’s no surprise that many people rave about it.
In short, you are a normal person who gains the power to control electricity and you have to make the decision to be a good guy by saving the world or evil by ruling the world.
During gameplay, you are given multiple choices of good or evil, which in turn, affects your powers and how people interact with you. Talk about major replay value.
So readers go out, pick up either of these great titles, and tell me about it.
