ROLESVILLE — The town of Rolesville Board of Commissioners voted recently to renew its contract for waste services with Waste Industries. The renewed contract runs through June 2016.
As part of the town’s ordinance, all residents are required to have garbage service, either with Waste Industries or another company of their choosing. The cost of this service to Rolesville residents will remain at $22 a month and will be billed on a bimonthly basis.
To ensure effective service, customers should place their garbage and recycling containers, supplied by Waste Industries upon moving into town, by the curb the night before the scheduled day of service.
Waste Industries also asks residents to bag all household trash and properly separate garbage and recycling items into their respective bins. Items that can be recycled include plastic items, aluminum, all glass items except blue colored glass and paper products including sticky notes, envelopes, dry goods boxes, magazines and phone books.
Items that cannot be recycled include facial tissues, photographs, paper clips, staples, electronics, frozen food trays, Styrofoam, oils of any kind and plastic bags. Yard waste is also not accepted by Waste Industries.
During holiday weeks, garbage collection will typically be delayed. Town staff will contact residents via recorded phone message or e-mail to let residents know of any change in schedule. Contact the town hall at 919-556-3506 to be placed on the call list.
As part of the waste collection service, the town of Rolesville also offers yard waste pick-up every other week. Items that will be collected include clippings, pine straw, leaves, tree limbs and logs no more than 2 feet long. Building materials, plant pots, plastic trays, dirt and rocks cannot be collected.
For a comprehensive list of the recycling materials accepted, yard waste collection guidelines, dates and more, see rolesvillenc.gov or call town hall.
