Get advance gate tickets to the N.C. State Fair
(Oct. 17-27) and help public schools raise money.
For every adult advance ticket sold ($7.00), two dollars will be returned to individual schools. For every children’s advance ticket ($3.00), one dollar will be returned to the school.
To be sure the money goes back to the school of your choice, you need to enter the school code number, which is available from the advance ticket online site
CenturyLink connects teachers with technology
CenturyLink, Inc. wants to connect teachers with technology in the classroom. The CenturyLink Clarke M. Williams Foundation’s Teachers and Technology grant program today opened the application process for teachers in CenturyLink’s local service areas who want to innovatively implement technology in their classrooms to increase student achievement.
See fsrequests.com/centurylink-teachers to learn more about the program or apply for a grant. The deadline for applications is Jan. 10, 2014.

•The Wake Forest JROTC holds a fish fry Saturday, Oct. 12, 11a.m.-2p.m. and 4-7 p.m. Plates are $8. Reservations are not needed.
•The Austin Flowers Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament is Oct. 28, at Heritage Golf Club. This tournament remembers and honors one of the school’s former students by awarding two $2,500 scholarships to a WFHS senior each year.
