To the editor:
I have been on the campus of the Wake Forest Elementary School on two occasions lately and I am appalled at the condition of the grounds.
The grass is not kept mowed, the trees and shrubs are either overgrown, dying, or both, there is soil erosion in several areas and a large tree limb is hanging over a play area.
This limb represents not only a safety issue for the kids but will damage the wooden fence it’s touching. The only area that looks cared for is the front of the building on South Main across from Bright’s.
School administration should be ashamed of these conditions. It sends a terrible message to the kids that the adults in charge don’t care enough to maintain a safe and pleasant environment for them.
