Shirley Pender Horton, 75, of Louisburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at WakeMed. She was born in Wilson County, the daughter of the late Rudolph David Pender and Pauline Outlaw Pender. Shirley retired from Weavexx after 19 years of service. After her retirement, she was a homemaker and loved her garden and her flowers. She loved to quilt and made beautiful quilts for her family.
Funeral services were held Jan. 11, 2014, at Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Harry Upchurch officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Henry Allen of Louisburg and Donnie Williams of Wilson; her sisters, Janice Rogers of Dudley and Paulette Lufzchek of Chesapeake, Va., her brothers, Rudolph Pender of Wilson and Joseph Scott and wife, Burnice, of Bluff City, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Barbara Pender, of Castle Hayne; fiancé, Ronald Williams; special friend, Tim Edwards, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Horton, her son, Jimmy Allen, her daughter, Barbara Ready and her brother, Phillip Pender.
Pallbearers were Gary Tipton, Brad Tipton, Bryan Tipton, Oscar Pendergraft, Tim Rogers, and Randy Rogers.
