Tournament organizers put out all-call for more than 500 volunteers
WAKEFIELD — Area residents who want to get a whole lot closer to PGA golf have that opportunity June 16-23 when the Rex Hospital Open comes to TPC Wakefield Plantation.
Rex Healthcare is looking for more than 500 volunteers to help its annual week-long PGA tour event run smoothly.
In addition to the opportunity to see some of golf’s top players compete for a national title on a local course, this year’s volunteers will receive:
•a tournament logo shirt
•a tournament ball cap or visor
•breakfast and lunch on days worked
•tournament volunteer badge, good for free admittance all week
•Up to six guest badges
•a volunteer appreciate party
•parking pass for the volunteer parking lot with shuttle service to the course
•a voucher for a free round of golf at TPC Wakefield Plantation, not including cart fees, for those that work three or more shifts.
The Open has been a key event for golf players and fans for more than two decades, raising more than $7 million to support patients, programs and services at Rex Hospital. Funds from this year’s event will benefit Rex Heart and Vascular programs and services.
