LOUISBURG — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said it arrested a man last week and charged him with stealing items and a vehicle from his family members.
The suspect’s stepfather and other family members filed reports on March 13 and March 14 with the sheriff’s office claiming the suspect, 29-year-old Dustin Privette, had stolen a .357-caliber Rugger revolver, $100 in cash from a wallet, a TV and a Chevrolet Silverado pickup. The thefts are said to have happened from the family’s home in the 3000 block of Sledge Road in Louisburg.
Privette’s stepbrother told deputies Privette had gotten out of jail for a past larceny charge just prior to the incident, said Maj. Jarrett Umstead of the sheriff’s office’s criminal investigations division. Privette was supposed to attend a rehabilitation facility after getting out, but did not go.
Privette was arrested March 21 and charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and felony larceny of a vehicle.
He was held at the Franklin County Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond, according to a press release.
