WAKE FOREST — Franklin Academy’s boys golf team has exemplified dominance in the 1A North Central Athletic conference in recent years and their sixth conference championship in a row Monday further proved that notion.

The Patriots shot a team score of 171 at Zebulon Country Club to win first place for the ninth time this year, finishing the regular season undefeated. Franklin Academy’s average team score this year is 170, which is 17 strokes ahead of second-place Falls Lake Academy.

Jake Girouard tied his season-best score of 35 to finish first overall for the Patriots. The conference player of the year averaged 37.6 this season. Jacob Burgess finished second with an individual score of 44 and Parker Groeschner came in third at 45.

Girouard, Burgess, Groeschner, Ben Krueger and Jackson Puckett made the all-conference team for Franklin Academy.

The Patriots will travel to Denson’s Creek Golf Club in Troy, which is in between Asheboro and Charlotte, on May 6 to compete in the 1A Mideast regional tournament.
