Much of the Triangle was drenched by heavy rainfall Saturday, and northeastern Wake County and parts of Franklin County experienced the worst of the lingering storm system.
The wet weather forced multiple road closures due to flooding throughout the day, NCDOT officials said, and there were also reports of parts of roads being washed away. A tweet from Raleigh Wake Scanner reported people were trapped in a trailer on Zebulon Road. According to WTVD, those rescued were unharmed.
According to WRAL estimated rain totals, the heaviest rainfall was dumped along the Wake/Franklin County line and at one point, the National Weather Service in Raleigh reported that more than 7 inches of rain fell in less than four hours in Rolesville.
The following roads remained closed as of 10:30 p.m. Saturday, according to NCDOT.
