WAKE FOREST — The Giving Tree announced last week that it is donating $16,000 to Wake Forest area schools.
The Giving Tree board representatives are meeting with school principals, PTA members and students in individual check presentation ceremonies for each of the 14 participating schools.
The Giving Tree is presenting monetary awards totaling $16,000 to 14 participating Wake Forest area schools. These donations, ranging from $550-$2000, will be used to support educational initiatives such as field trip support, library enhancements, teacher supplies and technology improvements. Each school’s individual monetary award is based on their participation rate, which is determined by credits earned through donations, purchases and volunteer hours for the 2018 business year. Since the store’s inception in August 2013, The Giving Tree has donated over $65,000 back to Wake Forest private, public and charter schools.
“Upon completing my first year as executive director, I am honored and thrilled to announce a successful year, and our continued growth of The Giving Tree,” Ayesha Pandey, newly appointed executive director and store manager, said. “As our roots deepen within the community, we are becoming a household name and a go-to donation center and thrift shop. Due to the dedication of this community, we are able to return $16,000 to the Wake Forest schools. By the community, for the community.”
