WAKE FOREST — In a close game, Wake Forest High was able to edge out Broughton High Friday night for a 54-52 win.
Taking the lead in the first quarter, the Cougars held on to it until the third when the Capitals slipped past and scored 17 points to make it 38-32.
The fourth quarter brought with it a desperate rush by both teams to take the lead. The Cougars however were victorious when they scored 22-14 in the quarter to take the win.
“I felt like the entire team was in the
game,” said the Cougars’ coach Darryl Robinson. “Everyone was pulling for their teammates, and that means
a lot. I felt like we played three good
quarters of basketball, we stagnated in the third and took our foot off the gas. Otherwise, I believe we played four quarters of good defensive basketball.”
The night’s player of the game was Dwight Lancaster,
he scored 12 points
for the Cougars including three 3- pointers. He also had four steals to his credit.
Wake Forest will play at Millbrook Friday at 7p.m.
