WAKE FOREST — A rural Wake Forest man and woman and another Raleigh man have been charged with murder in the May 14 death of Melissa Dawn Huggins-Jones, according to arrest reports, Raleigh police confirmed Wednesday.
Wake Forest police assisted in the Tuesday arrests of Ronald Lee Anthony Jr., 23, 7425 Bud Drive; Sarah Rene Redden, 18, 3209 Scotch Pine Trail and Travion Devonte Smith, 20, 1009 Fuller Street, Raleigh.
The 30-year-old victim was killed by blunt force trauma, believed to be part of a robbery, police stated.
A 911 caller at a construction site said the victim’s 8-year-old daughter approached at about 7:30 a.m. that day and said her mother had blood all over and was not responding.
The caller was instructed by the 911 operator to go inside the apartment at 441 Allister Drive, Raleigh, where the victim was found lying on a bed and wasn’t breathing. She had no pulse, the caller stated.
Based upon the information gathered by detectives, there appears to have been no connection between the victim and the suspects prior to the crime.
The investigation is continuing.
