WAKE FOREST — The town of Wake Forest has closed Richland Creek Greenway until further notice due to potential safety risks associated with increased stream bank erosion and greenway undermining.
The greenway will remain closed until town staff determines the best means of stabilizing and repairing the stream and relocating the trail to ensure its safe use.
Signs will be posted at the trail heads notifying users of the greenway closure.
The Richland Creek Greenway offers 0.35 mile of paved asphalt trail. The greenway begins at the Cottage at Olde Mill Stream, 901 Barnford Mill Road, extends north along the east side of Richland Creek and ends just north of Littlehampton Court at Barnford Mill Road.
For more information about the greenway closure, contact Assistant Town Engineer Holly Miller at 919-435-9443 or [email protected] or Parks and Recreation Director Ruben Wall at 919-435-9561 or [email protected]
