WAKE FOREST — In an effort to boost support for donations, the Tri-Area Ministry food bank is expanding its limited hours to include the first Saturday in November and December, from 9-11 a.m.
The current hours for drop-offs are Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Immediate needs include cereal, oatmeal, tuna, pasta, canned vegetables, canned fruit, soup, diapers and baby wipes. Additional needs include peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti sauce, canned meats, Chef Boyardee, grits, rice, macaroni and cheese, dried beans, crackers, canned soup, flour, and sugar. People are asked to not bring glass jars.
Staffed by volunteers, Tri-Area Ministry helps feed 750-800 families in the Wake Forest, Rolesville and Youngsville communities.
“Our inventory is at its lowest in five years,” ministry volunteer Ellen Kilberg said recently.
