The Wake County Board of Commissioners proclaimed a State of Emergency, effective at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 12, in response to the winter storm. The declaration includes all of the municipalities in Wake County and establishes the authority for inter-municipal and inter-county mutual aid.
Residents who have life-sustaining medical equipment that is vulnerable to electrical failure should call 919-856-7044 if they anticipate needing assistance.
At this time, the Wake County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will remain at level three. This means that equipment and personnel are responding and the EOC is staffed on a continual basis. This staffing includes a call center that is available to handle non-emergency calls in English and Spanish. The call center phone number is 919-856-7044. People should call 9-1-1 in an emergency.
