Collecting food and serving free pizza

WAKE FOREST — Richland Creek Community Church has as one of its mottos, “Live, Love, Serve” and this week, they are putting their money, time and efforts where their mouths are.
After serving hundreds at a two-day, free medical and dental clinic July 19-20, members of Richland Creek, or The Creek as they call themselves, have turned their attention to collecting food for local food banks. Their goal is to amass 20,000 pounds of food by Sunday.
In addition to having friendly competitions between various Sunday School classes, volunteers took 4,000 paper bags into surrounding neighborhoods to get help from the local community as well.
Tomorrow (Friday), the church takes its mission a practical step further and will serve free Papa Johns pizza to all comers from 5 to 7 p.m.
As their website states, “No fundraising. No gimmicks. Just free pizza for the whole family.”
The Live, Love, Serve project is, “a public expression of our church’s care for the people in our immediate neighborhoods and beyond,” the website reads.
