WAKE FOREST — Six tennis teams from the Wake Forest area were among over 1,200 tennis players who participated in the 2013 USTA Adult League North Carolina 18+ State Championships held in Lake Norman June 27-30.
Two ladies teams from Hasentree (3.0 and 3.5), a mens team out of Flaherty Park (3.5), and three teams from the Stonegate subdivision (ladies 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5) advanced to states after qualifying in the local area playoffs in late May.
Matches consisted of two singles courts and three doubles courts. Both the 3.0 and 3.5 teams from Stonegate made it to the semi-finals Sunday morning. The 3.0 team lost in the semis, while the 3.5 team went on to play in the finals Sunday afternoon.
They played against a team from the Piedmont region that lost in the finals in 2012.
