This week’s bargaining crown goes to the Playstation Plus membership.
First of all, I know you have to pay for it but the benefits easily out way the costs. With a Playstation Plus membership, you receive major discounts and free games on a regular basis. Unless you have major free time, and live in a basement, you won’t run out of games if you play them completely.
For the next couple of weeks, we as Plus members have quite a bit of A list games at our disposal. I couldn’t give up the sweet deal of the new Lara Croft for $13, which is a contender for game of the year I might add. The addictive Borderlands 2 is being given away for free. The smash hit God of War Ascension is only $10 to own, and that is a 75% mark down. My action gamers can get Far Cry 3 for half off, and racing addicts can get their adrenaline fix with Grid 2 with no out of pocket expense.
Now even though I am an avid fan of this program, I must admit there is a drawback. Any game purchased through your Plus account, is only playable while your account is active. You own your games forever, even if you deactivate and reactivate later on. So you can cancel your membership, and pickup where you left off a year later if you like.
Deleting and downloading the same game again doesn’t affect your purchase. Now it’s time to hash out the costs. There are no levels of membership, just one with all the same benefits for anyone (including PS Vita and PS4 owners). For one year of deals is $49.99, 3 months is 17.99 and 1 month is $9.99. When I tried this out, I found a couple of free games I knew I wanted to play and bought a 3 month membership. At the end of it, I had 10 free games and enjoyed playing every single one of them. I am now a year into using the Plus, and never regretted it. Go ahead, give it a try.
If you know about some other good deals in the gaming console world, then tell me about it. Have any questions you like for me to answer or comments? Send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
