WAKEFIELD — A former Wakefield High teacher’s assistant was arrested today (Feb. 10) by Raleigh police and charged with three felony counts of committing a sex offense with a student. Anthony Mondale Harris, 27, 106 Bon Marche Lane, Raleigh, was arrested at 2 p.m. according to arrest logs.
The girl is now 18, Jim Sughrue, Raleigh police spokesman said. At least one offense occurred Dec. 1, 2014, according to the arrest report. Sughrue could not confirm any other dates or the age of the victim at the time of the offense.
Harris resigned today, prior to his arrest, Lisa Luten, Wake Schools’ communications director said in a brief e-mail. He was a special education teacher’s assistant, she said when reached by phone.
