WAKE FOREST — Kerr Family YMCA hosts Live-strong, a program providing cancer survivors the opportunity to fight the disease through health and fitness outside of a medical setting.
Certified YMCA instructors help patients build muscle strength, increase flexibility and endurance and improve energy levels and self-esteem, while also helping participants develop their own physical fitness program so they can continue to practice a healthy lifestyle.
YMCA instructors are trained in the elements of cancer, post-rehab exercise, nutrition and supportive cancer care.
The 12-week session is scheduled to begin Feb. 25 at Kerr Family YMCA. The program meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The program is free and open to the community. For more information e-mail Brooke Gamber at Brooke.Gamber@YMCATriangle.org or call 919-562-9652.
