While Wilson has its share of boutique shops, entrepreneur Destiney Smith wanted to set her business apart when she picked her location as well as her inventory.
“There is no boutique like this on this side of town,” Smith said of Uniquely Me Boutique at 2841 Raleigh Road Parkway.
Smith opened the shop on Nov. 30, in time for the holiday shopping season.
“I carry women’s clothing sizes small through 3X,” the 25-year-old woman said. “I try to keep everything affordable and trendy.”
Uniquely Me also recently added the option to get a variety of items personalized with monograms.
“I managed a boutique in Goldsboro, and I worked in retail basically my whole life,” said Smith, who’s aspired to open her own shop for several years. “Plus, I love fashion.”
The boutique is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Follow @uniquelymeboutique19 on Facebook and @shopuniquelymeboutique on Instagram to learn more.
“It feels great to have this shop, especially when customers come in and tell me they love the boutique,” Smith said. “It makes my day.”
The owner of Edible Arrangements off Forest Hills Road announced the decision to close the shop Tuesday.
“After many long discussions, we have decided to prioritize our family and health in 2020,” according to a post on the shop’s Facebook page. The owner could not be reached for further comment by press time.
The store, which opened in 2015, has already closed, and owners speculated that no replacement franchisee will reopen it.
